Only twenty miles west of Boise rests a town with a unique flavor for life. Its modern day shopping centers and beautifully landscaped sidewalks create a wonderful urban appeal for a small town. Amongst the stores is a wide variety of entertainment and simplistic needs. Dance studios, popular sandwich restaurants, insurance companies, and hardware stores are just a few you’ll see in the heart of downtown. Yet, only minutes away there is even more to offer in Boise or Nampa.
Perhaps it’s the convenience that has made the city of Star grow so much over the last ten years. Or perhaps it’s the easy access to the river and beautiful country fields surrounding the city. On hot summer days, it’s not uncommon to see kids running from their house to swim in the river, with their parents carrying fishing poles right behind them. Picnic tables along the river beg your company. A paved greenbelt connects Star to nearby cities, creating easy biking or jogging opportunities. There is also a 20 acre sports complex with two softball fields and three soccer fields. Whatever your style of play, Star welcomes it.
There are many fun things to do around the area throughout the year. Star hosts the Hometown Celebration every year in early July. This is a weekend of picnics, quilt shows, mini carnivals, and pancake breakfasts. Or, you can take a hayride, pick your own fruits and veggies, or hunt for that perfect pumpkin at The Berry Ranch, only 5 miles away. In the winter, you can walk through the city and enjoy one of the largest Christmas craft bazaars in the state. This craft fair takes over three or more city buildings each year, and brings nearly 15,000 shoppers to the area.
Star is home to more than 5,500 residents. It is connected with the Meridian School district, and is about 25 minutes away from the nearest hospital. Freeway access is not incredibly close, but other main traffic routes are, to make your commute easy. These include Chinden, State St, and Eagle Road.
